About Acme HVAC

Ray Acuña started Acme Heating & Air Conditioning in 1998 with one van, a borrowed vacuum pump and a promise to call customers back the same day. Twenty-eight years later the company has 22 technicians, a parts counter, and the same promise.

Our story

Ray had spent a decade installing systems for a national chain and did not like how often homeowners were sold a replacement they did not need. Acme's first rule, still printed on every invoice, is that a repair is quoted as a repair and a replacement is quoted as a replacement, with the numbers side by side. Dolores Acuña ran the office from the kitchen table until 2004, when the company moved into the building on West Kennedy Boulevard it still occupies.

The parts counter opened in 2011 because technicians kept running out to supply houses mid-job. Stocking our own filters, capacitors, contactors and thermostats cut a typical repair from two visits to one. In 2016 we opened the counter to the public, and today homeowners, property managers and other contractors buy from the same shelves our own crews do.

The team

Acme employs 22 NATE-certified technicians, four installers, three office staff and two counter staff. Every technician is EPA Section 608 certified and drug tested, drives a marked van, and wears a photo badge. Our lead technician, Marcus Bell, has been with the company since 2003 and trains every new hire.
